Tourism sustainability

This module analyses data from global sources to measure the impact and sustainability of tourism activity in the destination. Its mission is to establish a corroborated and stable criterion for measuring and monitoring various structural, economic and social aspects that affect the destination’s tourism sustainability.

Through the cross-referencing of twenty-six different indicators, with a global and standardised nature, six major Tourism Sustainability Indices are obtained for destinations, which are applicable and comparable with any destination in the world.

The composition and weighting of these indicators have been carried out by the consultancy firm Ético, which specialised in Tourism Sustainability and following the generic criteria set by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the European Tourism Indicators (ETIS).
